Carlos Ray Norris

1940 — 2026

Carlos Ray Norris (1940–2026). United States Air Force veteran. Pioneer of martial arts in America, the first Westerner to earn an 8th-degree Black Belt Grand Master in Taekwondo. Six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate Champion.

Beyond the screen, Chuck dedicated decades of his life to helping young people through his foundation KickStart Kids, bringing martial arts programs to schools across the country and giving thousands of children discipline, confidence, and a path forward.

He became, almost by accident, one of the most recognized cultural icons of the internet age. But behind the legend there was always a real man: a father, a veteran, a teacher, and someone who never stopped fighting for what he believed in. Rest in power, Chuck.
